For my final Aberdeen Restaurant Week - Restaurant we visited Amarone. Nestled in the middle of Union Street you’ll notice Amarone right away with the twinkling lights doning the windows. I took my mum along for a taste of Italian and a very fine meal to end Restaurant Week off on a high note.
We arrived a little early and the staff were so helpful from the moment we arrived to the moment we left the building.
To start my mum had the Crostini Con Fungi which was toasted Italian bread topped with sautéed mushrooms, melted cheese and drizzled with truffle oil. I went with the warm bowl of Minestrone Soup. Both starters were devine and started out meal off right.
For main dishes my mum went with a classic and opted for the Pizza Ventricia, when it arrived she questioned whether her eyes were bigger than her belly as this was a very large pizza. Still she found it extremely good. I opted for the Pollo Alla Milanese a mix of linguine pasta and breaded chicken fillet. This is a very simple but tasty dish and the tomato sauce mixed in with the pasta tasted so nice.
By the time it came to desert we were spoilt for choice so we went with the Lemon and Lime Creme Brulee and the Tiramisu
I had never had Creme Brulee before so I didn’t really know what to expect. I wasn’t disappointed it tasted so good and the added Lemon & Lime flavour made it really refreshing. Paired with a couple of vanilla shortbreads it really brought the taste out.
We left Amarone feeling well fed and eager to go back again. Definately book up Amarone for Restaurant Week for lunch or dinner I’m sure this one will fill up fast.
