As parents to a toddler, as much as we’d love to be dashing about to visit some of the amazing restaurants the city has to offer and enjoying the great deals on offer for Aberdeen Restaurant Week, childcare (and general exhaustion) always proves to be a bit of an issue. So I was delighted to find Muchacho have signed up to be a part of the event this year, offering a amazing deal of two meals from their menu (including a main item, filling and salsa) and a drink for only £10. We were able to nip in quickly (on a very cold and rainy night), order our food and take it home to enjoy whilst the toddler played with his toy cars!
Muchacho is a bit of a gem in the city centre, serving amazing fresh street food, with a truly authentic Mexican feel. Although they offer the fast food takeaway option, they restaurant is decorated and styled to a really high standard with a few seats available so it would be perfectly pleasant to sit in to eat your food if you prefer. Fun touches like a neon sign and mini cactuses really add to the atmosphere and the staff working were super friendly and welcoming.
All food is made fresh right in front of you in their open kitchen - we both opted for a burrito although there were several other choices such as tacos, quesadillas or enchilada available too. Sandy added guerrero brisket beef, accompanied with spicy salsa verde and I went for adobo chicken with some roasted vegetables too finishing off with pico de gallo and some extra freshly made guacamole. Both also included plenty of rice, tasty black beans and cheese, all packaged neatly in a soft warm tortilla wrap. The beef had a good authentic spicy kick and was slow cooked to perfection, resulting in quality you’d expect from a la carte dining. My chicken was beautifully flavoured with the picco di gallo adding a nice fresh zing to the meal.
With a drink included too this is a great deal. Along with the usual soft drinks there is a wide selection of authentic Mexican drinks on offer – I opted for the delicious Lime Jarritos soda which was really refreshing, and I would definitely order this again having tried it.
We enjoyed the meal at home with our feet up and no dishes to wash up was a welcome bonus! The offer is available throughout ARW so why not pop in yourself for lunch or dinner.
