Never one to turn down a mid-morning sweet treat, I headed to Mackie’s 19.2 at Marischal Square with my friend Laura to enjoy their Aberdeen Restaurant Week offer: 2 sweet crepes and 2 hot drinks for only £10. Named for the miles between the café and the family farm where Mackie’s first started making ice cream, the venue is light and airy with funky features such as their neon cow suspended from the ceiling.
Grabbing a seat in one of the colourful booths we perused the menu. They had some tempting options listed, but ultimately, we but both elected to build our own crepe selecting an ice cream from the vast range available! I chose the classic Cookies and Cream ice cream, adding melted chocolate sauce from Mackie’s ever running chocolate tap (oh my gosh!) and finished with mini smarties and marshmallows. Laura fancied something coffee flavoured and was delighted to see that a Café Latte ice cream was on offer. Also adding melted chocolate, she finished with some fresh strawberries and a few chocolate chips. The pictures speak for themselves – I was delighted with my colourful treat and we both cleared our plates easily! We also both indulged in a Mocha made with real melted chocolate – these were almost too much on top of the crepes but we struggled through and polished them off. No need for lunch today!
A great deal for the week, I’d highly recommend a visit Mackie’s 19.2 this Aberdeen Restaurant Week.
