I love a week night dinner-date in town, and Aberdeen Restaurant Week was a brilliant excuse to escape the kitchen and treat ourselves.
On arrival we were warmly welcomed by the fantastic waiting staff and seated by the window table, it is the perfect spot to take in the bright, modern surroundings and watch the busy shoppers go by in Union Square.
We were looking forward to a warm hearty meal, I think that’s what we all need when braving these wintery storms, and ASK Italian did not disappoint!
Restaurant manager, Natalie, poured us a pink lemonade taster shot, a sweet aperitif to start our evening. ASK Italian’s Aberdeen Restaurant Menu is packed with tasty options, something for everyone, we wanted it all!
The £20 three-course menu also includes a beer, prosecco, soft drink or wine.
To start, we opted for the Cheese Fondue, and Arancini. The fondue was cheesy, garlicy, creamy goodness, with plenty of doughball sticks to dip. Dip-Dip Horay as the menu says! The arancini was filled with spinach and ricotta with a crispy outside coating, served with a chilled spicy tomato dip, it was light, fresh, and very tasty!
For mains, we had linguine con frutti di mare and asparagus and pancetta carbonara. The seafood linguine was filled with mussels, clams, king prawns mixed with a rich tomato sauce.
The asparagus and pancetta carbonara was exceptionally filling, the frilly tagliatelle was a fun twist, and the sauce was rich and creamy.
We almost didn’t make pudding, but everyone has a second tummy for dessert, right?
The warm pear tart was light and sweet, perfect with a americano to end the meal.
ASK Italian is a wonderful dinner or lunch spot in the heart of Aberdeen’s Union Square, so if you’re having a shopping day with the girls, off to the cinema with friends, or like us enjoying a chilled date night, it’s one to check out!
Parking in Union Square is only £1.50 after 6:30pm so you can relax and enjoy your stay, making the most of the late night shopping or leisure offering.
