#ARW2020 Topolabamba Review

Our Monday was made brighter as we walked up a grey and rainy Union Street and into Topolabamba. The restaurant is huge and the Mexican theme livened up a dreich day as we were excited to see what they had on offer for Aberdeen Restaurant Week.

The Menu

The menu gave us the choice of 4 burritos and two starter options. After a bit of confusion, the waiter explained that we actually got both starter options included with the menu, so we had a huge amount of food which was amazing, especially for the price!

The starters you get on the Restaurant Week menu are salt and chilli fries and tortilla chips with guacamole. Both portions were huge and we probably could have shared but there were no complaints at having our own! The guacamole was the perfect amount of tangy and the fries were coated in chilli powder making them spicy and delicious.

Our burritos arrived before we had even made a dent in the starters which required some shuffling of plates to get everything on the table! We chose the chicken tinga, the lamb rojo and the sweet potato and poblano burritos and all were really good. The chicken was spicy and full of flavour, the lamb was tender and delicious and the sweet potato was a good veggie option as sometimes they can be a bit boring! The tortilla wraps had been toasted nicely so that nothing was soggy and the accompanying salsa verde was not too spicy but still had plenty of flavour. Stuffed full of rice, beans and our chosen fillings, they were the perfect size and so tasty!

A treat for a Monday, we really enjoyed our lunch at Topolabamba. The fast service, tasty food and huge portions meant that we highly recommend heading here for lunch this week.
