Having worked round the corner from the KirkView Cafe for years I’d only ever tried the take out coffee and cakes. I have been dying to try the meals for ages and I wasn’t disappointed. We headed there for lunch and we left with full bellies.. Seriously the food is delicious.
As well as the delicious food the whole atmosphere of the cafe is very inviting. As a small family run business everyone of the staff is welcoming and makes your whole experience great. From walking in the door to paying the bill the staff took care of us so well and made us feel so welcome. All the food is freshly prepared and is good quality homemade food.
I took my parents along with me to test out the menu for the £10 lunch option and we all enjoyed our meals very much.
My mum and myself opted to go for a desert over a starter as we have more of a sweet tooth. My Dad however went for the soup of the day and I ended up stealing half of it.. He went for the Leek & Potato soup of the day which came with the warmest bread roll. The soup was divine and I’m not usually a soup person but this soup was so so good.
For mains I went for the BBQ Chicken Melt minus the cheese. This choice was a bit of a shocker for me as I’m not one to usually go for burgers or BBQ sauce but I’m all for trying new foods and this definitely paid off. Combined with the side salad and a little pyramid of chips - props for food presentation too! - the chicken burger was so yummy.. The BBQ sauce wasn’t too overpowering which I think made it even better.
My dad went for the Mushroom Risotto as thats something he doesn’t usually get in our house he was happy for a change. He really enjoyed his meal and said it was one of the best Mushroom Risotto he’s ever tried.
My Mum opted for the Chicken Caesar Salad, which again came beautifully presented. With on the bone chicken and a bowl with mix of lettuce leafs, bacon, croutons topped with a sprinkling of parmesan cheese!
For desert I went with the Double Chocolate Chip Brownie.. Insert the drool emoji here. For a chocoaholic like me this chocolate brownie was melt in your mouth amazing. There is nothing better than a soft gooey brownie. Seriously Run to Kirk View Cafe for one of their brownies!
My mum went for the Sticky Toffee Pudding and I had to fight to get a taste from her. That’s when you know a puddings good if my Mum isn’t willing to share. Like all good Sticky Toffee Puddings this came paired with hot toffee sauce & a soft scoop of vanilla ice cream!
With compliments to the chef and 3 full bellies we left the Kirk View Cafe planning our next trip to visit again soon. Be sure to try the Kirk View Cafe during Restaurant Week. They also offer a pre-Theater menu which if you’re heading to the theater soon definitely book the Kirk View Cafe!
