If you’ve not heard of Aberdeen Restaurant Week, you have been missing out. This is the fifth edition of ARW and it’s coming back bigger than ever.
Running from the 24th of February until the 1st of March, a huge variety of different restaurants located in the centre of Aberdeen are offering set menus at a brilliant price.
Whether you love street food, have a passion for local produce or follow a plant based diet there is something on offer for you!
The menus are created specifically for Restaurant Week and are usually a £10 two course lunch or £20 three course dinner. It’s a great opportunity to try out that place you’ve always wanted to go, for a bargain of a price!
The team behind Restaurant Week have really pushed the boat out this year with a number of new experiences to try. They have cooking classes, one of which being in Namaste Delhi which we would love, you learn how to make a variety of different foods all for £34. There are also a few Afternoon Teas to treat yourself to including one at The Copthorne Hotel.
They have also launched their Street Food Experience Tour. For the first time ever in Aberdeen, we have a street food-based tour, visiting some of the city’s most exciting street food spots.
We had a sneak peak of the tour last week and without ruining the surprises for you we have included a few photos of the food items you will be tasting. (Curry Wurst from The Pig’s Wings and ice cream from Mackie’s 19.2).
So if we haven’t already wet your appetite for restaurant week enough we thought we would give you five of our top picks for the week....
1) Da Vinci
We headed here last year to review their menu for Restaurant Week and fell in love with this romantic little restaurant. We enjoyed the great Italian cooking and friendly service. We couldn’t get enough of the four cheese gnocchi, caprese salad and their tiramisu. Don’t miss your chance to enjoy this wee gem during Restaurant Week.
Situated on the ground floor of the Aberdeen Market this spot is a hidden treat. With freshly made pasta and delicious sauces we cannot recommend this place enough. What’s even better is you can learn all the secrets of making brilliant pasta at their £20 pasta making cooking class during Restaurant Week at various times and on various days!
They have released a completely vegan three course dinner menu paired with beers that we think sounds rather delicious. We’ve always wanted to try the Beyond Meat Burger and this sounds like a great opportunity. Definitely worth checking out their evening menu whether you are vegan or not!
This restaurant is one of our favourites so we are delighted to see it featuring in ARW2020, we love the variety of food on offer and the opportunity to try new dishes and expand our knowledge of Indian cuisine. We are already eyeing up the desserts.
Melt are offering both a £10 and a £20 menu for you to enjoy. Since opening on Belmont Street we feel Melt has been the talk of the town. Its retro vibe and addictive cheese menu is too good to miss. The poutine they serve is incredible. We would also recommend their mac and cheese.
This is only a tiny sample of the exciting things on offer during restaurant week, so if you haven’t already, it’s time to decide where to book in, we think that will be the hardest bit! Enjoy ARW2020 and take this opportunity to indulge in the incredible food on offer in Aberdeen.
We are heading to The Globe Inn to sample their menu and are excited to try somewhere totally new to us. Stay tuned…
